Pune: BMW Golf Cup 2026, the country’s premier amateur golf tournament, has successfully concluded its Pune qualifiers at the Poona Golf Club, with outstanding performances by amateur golfers earning them a place in the upcoming national finale.

The BMW Golf Cup 2026 marks the return of the prestigious tournament in India for its 16th edition, organized by BMW Group India across multiple cities.

BMW Golf Cup 2026 Pune Leg Produces National Finalists

At the Pune qualifier of BMW Golf Cup 2026, Mahesh Kumar Bhandangkar and Shil Bhargava emerged as winners in their respective categories, securing qualification for the BMW Golf Cup National Final scheduled later this year.

The Pune leg witnessed talented amateur golfers demonstrating exceptional skill, precision, and sportsmanship at the Poona Golf Club.

BMW Group India will host BMW Golf Cup 2026 tournaments across Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Vadodara, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Patna, Kolkata, and Gurugram.

The tournament is supported by brand partnerships with Omega, Etihad, TaylorMade, Ballantine’s, and HSBC.

Global Legacy of BMW Golf Cup

The BMW Golf Cup is one of the world’s largest amateur golf tournament series. The competition traces its origins to a British initiative launched as the BMW Invitation Tournament in the United Kingdom.

After operating independently for five years, it evolved into an international tournament series.

Today, the global series includes approximately 1,000 qualifying tournaments involving nearly 100,000 players across up to 40 countries.

National champions advance to the BMW Golf Cup World Final, where individual titles are contested in three categories.

Tournament Format

The BMW Golf Cup 2026 competition includes two handicap categories:

  • Category A — Handicaps up to 12
  • Category B — Handicaps 13–28

Winners from each category at the national level qualify to represent their country at the BMW Golf Cup World Final.
